Pullen Creek Campground & RV Park
This place is combat camping at its finest.
But in terms of convenient locations, it really can’t be beat if you
are traveling by water. Two minutes off the water taxi and we were in the campground.
One tip – yelling “Hey” in a menacing voice should scare away kids
when they are playing next to your tent when you are trying to sleep.
To find Pullen Creek Campground from the water taxi and
small boat harbor, walk up the dock ramp and the campground is dead ahead about
one block. If you are arriving on
the Alaska Ferry take your first right along a service road from the dock.
Turn right on Congress Way. The campground entrance is the first right.
There are around 50 RV sites and a grassy area for
backpackers to pitch a tent. They
are able to make room for as many backpackers as is necessary and the manager
told us they have never had to turn anyone away.
There are bathrooms with running water and showers, but the showers cost
a dollar for seven minutes. The
camping cost is $12 for backpackers, $16 for car tenters and dry sites for RVs, and
$22 for RVs with full hookups. Click
here for reservation information.
We were glad we had brought our own camp stove as there
were no fire rings or picnic tables here. In
a small park just outside the campground we found a couple of picnic tables and
used one to make one of our freeze dried meals.
