Rosehip Campground
How many perfect little campgrounds can one state have?
Rosehip is the first campground within the Chena River recreational area
and features 36 campsites, four walk in campsites and one big group camp area.
There are toilets, water, a boat launch area to float the Chena River
and a nature trail that runs the length of the campground along the river.
Small bridges allow dry passage over the small streams that feed the
Chena River. The information boards at the
beginning of the trail discuss the biota of the area. 200 million year old
horsetails…in such a beautiful spot I suppose I would not mind living so long!
Find brochures describing the plant and animal life along the trail on
the side of the bulletin boards at either end of the trail.
Carolyn, the campground host, actually
lives in Florida. She comes up for
the summers to volunteer for the park service.
It is an excellent opportunity for retired people to enjoy the wondrous
beauty of the area and donate their time to help others enjoy the same.
